The final stage of the 13th Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition for Pupils and Students took place on Saturday, February 4.

 The youth of Ukraine had the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge. Among them is a first-year student of the Faculty of Medicine Mariia Matliuk.

Mariia Matliuk won the regional stage of the Taras Shevchenko International Competition among university students, which took place on November 23. Assoc. Prof. of the Department of Linguistics Oksana Melnychuk supervised the student and helped her in preparing to participate in the contest.

“Taras Shevchenko's creativity is always relevant, especially in today's time; in the conditions of the war, it is very important to popularize his poems," Mariia said.

In general, the girl won 15 times in the district and regional stages of the Taras Shevchenko International Language and Literary Competition and three times - in the all-Ukrainian stage!

“The contest is also aimed at popularization of Ukrainian language. That is why such events are very necessary, especially now," Assoc. Prof. Oksana Melnychuk noted.
