International Mother Language Day, on 21 February, is a day to celebrate and protect all the languages of the world. This year Ukrainian and foreign students celebrated the IMLD in the reading room of the scientific library of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. Medical students recited poems and sang songs in different languages.
Fourth-year student Jintu Fukan from India performed several songs in four different Indian languages. “It is a great idea to celebrate International Mother Language Day, - says Jintu Fukan. - It was very interesting to listen to how our students, my friends speak and sing in their native languages. It was exciting”.
Third-year student Tsanhe Zhantu Franki from Cameroon recited Vasyl Symonenko's poem “Do you know you are a human? Do you know this or not?” in Ukrainian. “I really like Ukrainian language and culture, Ukrainian poetry is very beautiful and lyrical.”
“Remember your native language, sing songs, learn poetry, - says Olha Babiak, teacher at the Department of Linguistics. — I thank all our students who joined this creative event. Peace, harmony and love to all of us!”.
